Support the Ministry's delivery on outcomes for tamariki and whanau, progressing the recommendations of the Well Child Tamariki Ora Review
Full time position based in Wellington.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside and support the leaders at Ministry of Health on work programmes that directly contribute to the improvement of outcomes and equity for Maori.
The Ministry of Health has committed to ensuring Maori leadership and advice at all levels including decision making. The Pou Tikanga is needed to provide leadership, direction and advice specifically across programmes that are focussed on tamariki and whanau. In addition, there is a particular focus on the Well Child Tamariki Ora Review and programme to ensure the work reflects the Crown's relationship with Maori and prioritises equity in health outcomes.
The Principal Advisor Maori provides direction and advice across the Child and Community Health group within the Population Health & Prevention directorate, and links with the wider Maori population health deliverables across the directorate. This role is crucial to ensuring future decision making on outcomes for Maori for this work programme are well supported.
You will have experience providing strategic advice and thought leadership, and knowledge of Maori child and youth health. Your relationship management skills will be strong, enabling you to collaborate with others across the Ministry, wider health sector and iwi to achieve outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will also have a sound understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi, have in-depth knowledge of Maori tikanga and be comfortable in Maori environments.
