Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Linux and Virtualization are responsible for the production of the Oracle Linux distribution including additional open source products and packages. This includes feature evaluation, content management, product building, test development, testing and deployment. It provides support and resolution to internal customers including Exadata and Oracle Cloud. The PESL team is chartered with providing expert analysis of the performance, efficiency and security of Oracle Linux, developing minimised and optimised environments, improving the performance of Oracle Linux, all typically with a cloud-oriented focus. If successful, you would be joining a focused team with deep skills in Linux performance and virtualisation technologies, examining the latest cloud technologies and frameworks, and developing and improving the performance of some of Oracle's strategic products.In this position you will take an active role in the development and automated deployment of user space packages, configuration of CI/CD pipelines, learn and use technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Gitlab, Kubernetes and other tools for development, testing and automation. You will contribute to improvements in stability, reliability and availability of the products, investigating issues and fixing them as they arise.There is a strong focus on supporting Oracle cloud where issues don't effect single users rather hundreds of customers and time to resolution is measured in minutes not days. This demands that you have the ability to deal with multiple tasks concurrently, can identify high priority issues and resolve them with a sense of urgency.Skills• Strong experience in virtualisation, Docker and modern container technologies• Experience in deploying and customising orchestration frameworks such as Openstack, Kubernetes highly desirable• Experience with Linux Systems: Oracle Linux, Redhat and modern scripting language such as Python etc is a must• Strong focus on problem solving for complex environments is expected• Experience in other languages such as C, C++ or Java, Go an advantage.• Exposure to emerging cloud technologies such as container operating systems, micro-VMs, and other container runtimes is highly desirable.• Infrastructure management tools eg Terraform, Ansible would be an advantage• Knowledge of Agile development & DevOps tools would be an advantageResponsibilities - detail in day-to-day• Maintain a high-level understanding of the virtulisation technology, containers and cloud and provisioning landscape• Work with complex orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes and emerging cloud and virtualisation technologies• Analyse performance data, analysing for bottlenecks and potential performance optimisations• Develop tools and programs to assist in performance monitoring and optimisation of virtual environments• Work within close-knit team to deliver programs and products using Agile and DevOps methodologies• Communicate your findings and provide recommendations to other teams to improve product performance

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
