Ko ta matou mahi - Our Role
We are now looking to recruit aSenior Strategic Plannerto be based from our Hobsonville Point office.
This exciting position provides senior level subject matter expertise into a range of Kainga Ora's strategic urban planning work, at both regional and neighbourhood scale, to deliver integrated urban regeneration within the communities where Kainga Ora operates.
Some of the key areas of responsibility for this role include:
Supporting the Programme Lead — Strategic Planning in their role leading the overall strategic programme for Kainga Ora's Urban Development Planning team
Providing timely quality strategic planning advice to the business, primarily the Urban Development Planning and Urban Development Delivery teams, to inform decision making and assist with project delivery
Preparing strategies to guide urban development projects;
Undertaking Research including engaging with internal and external partners
Commissioning and managing consultants on their inputs to deliver outputs such as sub-regional strategic spatial plans and other locality based projects
Liaison with Local Authorities, mana whenua and stakeholders (including Crown agencies such as Ministry of Education and District Health Boards) on strategic spatial planning issues
Integrate high level strategic plan outputs with neighbourhood level masterplans
Input to urban planning projects such as Neighbourhood Masterplans as required
Nga pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring
In adding to your qualification and experience as a planner, urban geographer, urban development or design professional you will also demonstrate:
Relevant strategic spatial planning experience at regional and sub-regional scales and/or experience in large scale urban regeneration
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a strategic planning role in Auckland or other comparable location
Proven negotiation skills and ability to deliver quality projects within time and budget constraints
Experience working with regional and/or local authorities and / or government agencies to deliver high level built environment strategies or outcomes
Experience working within or with iwi entities with respect to urban development and / or complex resource management issues with a significant spatial component, including working with matauranga Maori or using a Te Ao Maori lens in a planning or urban development context
Outstanding communication skills and formal presentation skills
A collaborative team player, with a positive, upbeat approach
