Starting 7 September
We are looking for Resident Medical Officers seekingPaediatric Registrar positions within the Wellington region. These positionsare fully accredited for Paediatric Basic and Advanced Training for FRACP, andsuccessful applicants are encouraged to register as Basic Trainees with theRoyal Australasian College of Physicians.
The Wellington Region RMO positions are rotationalacross multiple hospitals, including Wellington Regional, Kenepuru, Hutt Valleyand Masterton Hospitals which means that you may rotate to these sites duringyour time with us. If you are successful in gaining a position, the servicewill do their best to accommodate the run preferences stated within your coverletter.
RMO salaries are calculated based on relevantprevious years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out inthe relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer toeither the SpecialtyTrainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or ResidentDoctors’ Association (RDA) Multi-Employer CollectiveAgreements.
Experience and Eligibility

Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY4/F4 or above by the role commencement date
Candidates must have at least 12 months previous experience working within Paediatrics. Some prior Level 3 NICU experience is highly recommended
We also welcome applications from Emergency Medicine trainees with at least one year of experience at Registrar level who wish to gain further clinical experience in general paediatrics
You must have eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Information on the process of application for this can be found on their website at ***** or *****

Our Hospitals and Services

Joinour fellow 535 Resident Medical Officers employed by the 3 District HealthBoards of the Wellington Region (Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley and WairarapaDHB’s) to gain leading experience, medical supervision and training.
CCDHB – Wellington Regional and Kenepuru Hospitals
Full-time Positions (rotating six-monthly) are available inGeneral Paediatrics and in Paediatric Sub-specialities: Neonatology, PaediatricOncology / Endocrinology, Child Psychiatry, Child Development. There is also anopportunity for advanced trainees to complete a Community Paediatrics rotationbased at the Ministry of Health. There are three Reliever Registrar rotations.
Wellington Children’s Hospital provides general paediatric carefor children in Wellington, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast and also providesregional tertiary paediatric surgery, paediatric oncology, developmentalpaediatrics, and child psychiatry. The Neonatal ICU provides Level 3 care for aregional population of over one million
HVDHB – Hutt Valley Hospital
Provides general paediatric care and Level 2 neonatal care forchildren in the Hutt Valley and environs. Hutt Hospital Child Health alsoprovides paediatric rheumatology, diabetes, and adolescent medicine services.
The local Director of Paediatric Physician Training organises afull lecture program for Basic Trainees with 2 to 3 hours protected time perweek. The Child Health Service also provides regular tutorials, Journal Cluband Grand Rounds.

The ability to rotate between a 'tertiary' and'regional' hospital

A variety of runs e.g. endocrinology, generalpaediatrics, MOH, developmental etc.
