Permanent position working a minimum of 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (must be available for overtime and stand by as required).
Napier City Council is one of Napier's biggest and most desirable employers - we value excellence, integrity, sustainability and outstanding customer and community service.
We are now seeking applications from experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our busy City Services Team. Based out of our depot in Onekawa, you will carry out routine, planned and reactive mechanical repairs to the water, wastewater and stormwater pumping stations and treatment plants around Napier City. You will also carry out engineering fabrication and repairs on Council equipment and vehicles as required.
To be successful in this role you will have sound knowledge of hydraulic systems, hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret drawing and diagrams for mechanical systems. You will be familiar with following good Health and Safety practices and be used to working in confined spaces and working with wastewater.
In addition, you must:
Be trade certified in mechanical fitting/engineering maintenance or equivalent
Hold a full current drivers licence - (class 2 and F endorsement desirable, but not essential)
Have at least 7 years working as a fitter
