About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for a talented andmotivated Branch Manager to join our team based in Blenheim.
Key Responsibilities will include thefollowing:
Responsible for the Business Unit profit centres for revenue, direct costs, overheads, asset management, profit, sales growth, HSE, environment, training and human resources.
Manage a modern fleet of vehicles for effective residential and commercial collections, and recycling.
Responsible for managing the critical strategic relationship with the Marlborough District Council.
Develop a strategic approach for the growth of the business through the implementation of a business plan in consultation with the General Manager.
Monitor and manage financial performance of the business covering positive and negative performance outcomes to achieve a continuous improvement in performance.
Manage the activities of the business ensuring that revenue is maximised and that operating costs are maintained within budget levels.
Develop and managing capital budgets including maximising equipment utilisation through integrating business unit fleet management plans and utilising region and national expertise and agreements.
Develop new business by continually seeking out new opportunities, areas of growth and business acquisitions.
Provide the primary point of contact for major contracted customers.
Develop and maintaining marketing and sales plan including the building of relationships with existing and potential customers in retail, manufacturing, small business, large industry, government and municipal areas.
Manage relationship with relevant stakeholders (e.g. local council) and management.
Plan R&M and projects to improve productivity.
Work with other WM operations areas to increase sales and improve customer service levels.
The successful applicant will preferablyhave:
Experience managing at a middle to senior management level in a complex, diverse, multi-site business, with a transport or civil or mechanical development focus.
Experience in business development, tendering and contract negotiation within a highly competitive commercial environment.
Demonstrated adaptability to change and ability to respond to challenges in a changing environment.
Ability to deal with concepts and complexity comfortably.
Skilled in making decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure.
Knowledge of transport & logistics industry.
Knowledge of waste management and recycling industry
Knowledge / aptitude for computerised systems (including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Labour Costing systems, Budgeting, Fixed Assets) and a good working knowledge of excel spreadsheets.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and networking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
Strong organisational skills to effectively manage competing priorities to meet strict deadlines.
Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline or equivalent formal studies in management, or like discipline.
