Stage Engineer

Description

We are looking for a junior volumetric stage engineer who is able to quickly learn new skills and innovate within a role that is ever changing to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding technology startup. 8i has a fully custom software stack and multi-camera capture system that has given us a dominant position in the AR/VR volumetric capture market. We have an immediate need for a junior engineer to assist with hardware development and testing. This is a high growth opportunity for the right candidate with the opportunity to both work with cutting edge technology, and gain direct experience with external clients.
Within this role you will be conducting R&D on multi-camera systems, end to end testing of 8i's product, and improvements of the user experience. You will also be assisting our clients on-site with installation and support (our main client bases are currently in Japan and South Korea).
Requirements

Required skills and experience:
Engineering or computer science degree, with a hardware background being desirable
Python for data wrangling and pipeline work
Soldering ability for custom cabling and hardware
Practical skills for assembly and design of stages
Experience with machine vision lenses and cameras
Github, Confluence, and Jira for work tracking
Excellent writing skills for user and technical documentation

Additional useful skills:
Blender modeling and rendering for client visualizations and design
Data analysis and report preparation
C++
Familiarity with Linux and Bash scripting
