We are looking for an outstanding Charge Nurse Manager to lead Ward 17, a general medicine ward at Middlemore Hospital into the future; continuing to grow and develop the current team within the ward to provide safe patient and whaanau focused care. Currently, the ward is a funded for 15 beds, with the model of care being one of transitional care for medically cleared patients who have complex discharge needs requiring substantial multi-disciplinary coordination across secondary and community services as well as external agencies. It is intended that the ward model of care will move, within a phased approach, to an acute medicine model by June 2020 with a capacity of 26 beds.
All the wards within the medicine service strive to provide the highest standard of care to patients under each area specific modality and in general medicine.
In this fast paced environment, as Charge Nurse Manager, you will be required to provide strong clinical and professional leadership to your team and will create a fantastic working environment where everyone wants to work. You will need great interpersonal skills, lots of enthusiasm, be a team player and be very well organised. A strong focus on change management will also be an advantage as we transition this ward to an acute medicine model while increasing bed capacity.

Essential
New Zealand Nursing Registration
Current Annual Practicing Certificate
Minimum 5 years experience in Nursing - preferably within Medicine setting
Demonstrated expertise in setting standards and managing excellence in practice
Ability to provide coaching and mentoring
Proven leadership and staff management experience
