Academic Writing Advisor (Postgraduate Research)
An academic position teaching academic literacies development

We are seeking a proactive Learning Advisor to join our dedicated Learning Success team, which focuses upon academic writing and other academic literacies development. As an academic position, working with postgraduate research students, this role requires demonstrated knowledge and experience in discipline-specific literacies, research directly related to academic literacy development, and the design and delivery of teaching and learning materials for postgraduate research students. This position is split between City & North campuses and will also involve working at other venues.
In this position you will:
develop and deliver workshops for supervisors and postgraduate research students in collaboration with the Graduate Research School
work with individual or small groups of postgraduate research students on writing and other academic literacies
create multimodal teaching and learning resources
initiate and collaborate in research projects directly related to academic literacies development

For this position you will have:
a relevant doctoral degree in fields such as Applied Linguistics, Sociology of Knowledge, or Higher Education
5 years proven relevant experience teaching academic literacies in a tertiary institution with a strong knowledge base from which to analyse texts
excellent teaching, presentation and communication skills
sound IT skills and experience with web-based educational technologies

This is a full-time (75 hours per fortnight) position requiring some flexibility of hours.
Salary rangeTL $68,351 - $81,819; [TSL $84,301 - $99,829 after promotion]
