We are seeking a birdwatching and nature guide to help us this season on Ulva Island and in Stewart Island. From October to April 2020.This is a great opportunity to work for a small, established business with an environmental focus, dedicated to providing the best possible experiences for our clients. Stewart Island also offers some wonderful outdoors leisure opportunities.You will need to be a hard working, quick learner, with attention to detail, energetic, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing. A commitment for the full season is essential.Our ideal candidate:Fits into a small, professional working environment with good work ethics. Willing to work as and when required based on skills and bookings.Has a tertiary qualification in an appropriate outdoors field e.g. zoology, geography, biologyPossess strong birdwatching skills. Some knowledge of New Zealand birds is essential and willingness to learnHas had previous guiding experience and is fit and healthyIs mature, responsible, honest and trustworthyIs friendly and outgoing with strong customer service skillsPossess good leadership and organisation skillsMust have excellent communication skills, written and spoken EnglishHas good personal presentationDuties include:Guide Trips:Plan and prepare for tripsBrief clients / answer questionsGuiding clients and provide assistance as requiredProviding quality local information and experiencesMaintaining timely and accurate records of trips and other administrative needsOther DutiesCarry out any other reasonable tasks helpful to the business, including helping to sell tours and distribute brochures.Employment Period and Hours of WorkOctober to April 2020. Willing to consider suitable candidates for shorter term e.g. minimum 3 months, but what we can offer in terms of work may be limited due to training requirements.Working hours will vary from minimum 30 hours to 40+ hours a week.Applications welcome from GENUINE people who fit our criteria and are able to commit to the work required and needs of a small business.
