Senior Network Design Engineer

Airways is one of the world?s leading providers of commercial Air Navigation Services, responsible for managing all domestic and international air traffic operating within New Zealand\'s 30 million square kilometres of airspace.
As a safety critical, high availability, distributed system; air traffic management system engineering is the top of the heap in terms of complexity. There is no down time, the system must run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, even during system upgrades.
About the role:Joining our Network Design team, who are responsible for ensuring that the technical knowledge and expertise related to managing the network infrastructure is accessible, developed and maintained.
You will be a key member of our team, responsible for providing specialist network support with a major focus on the design and modification of Airways and international client networks. Day-to-day, this means providing escalated tier 3 support, life cycle management and network design expertise. As a subject matter expert, you will also provide technical advice, plan quality improvements, lead complex projects and assist with the mentoring and coaching of trainees to support technical learning.
About you:To be successful in the role you\'ll have a background in telecommunications, electronic or computer related discipline and will be an expert in the design of network systems and leading projects. But most importantly, you will also:
Be Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) or higher
Have solid problem solving, teamwork, communication and mentoring skills
Have working knowledge of routing and WAN architecture including security
Have demonstrated success with designing and delivering network solutions on time and to budget with quality outcomes
Of course, it goes without saying that you operate with the utmost integrity and have a talent for working cross functionally and collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
