General Plastic Fellow

General plastic fellow to join our Plastic Surgery Unit for 1 year from July 2020.
ABOUT OUR ROLE
Our role is for a reconstructive and microsurgical Fellowship with a head and neck focus and also covers general plastic surgical on call responsibilities, requiring ability to manage hand and burn trauma along with other reconstructive emergencies.
Hutt Hospital is well-known for its plastic and reconstructive surgery and has regularly had Fellows from other countries who come to experience a different hospital and way of life before taking up a consultant role somewhere else in the future. Our Fellows contribute to the registrar roster and call requirements as part of a limited service commitment.
ABOUT YOU
Our Fellow position would suit someone who has recently finished their training or gained their Fellowship and provides the opportunity to learn skills and share their knowledge with the other registrars, and provide mentorship and leadership to the registrar team. This role is seen as a stepping stone for candidates who may be considering a consultant position in their country in the near future and who want to gain the experience of working in a different environment / culture.
You must be able to work legally in New Zealand and have either a permanent NZ address or a work visa or permit and be eligible for Medical Council New Zealand registration.
You'll also need to be highly-motivated and able to provide teaching and mentoring to junior registrars while at the same time observing and participating in a sub-specialty interest of your choice.
