Are you a passionate and dynamic library leader with a focus on community? If so a rare opportunity has become available.
Christchurch City Libraries is New Zealand's second largest public library network. Highly valued by the community, it enjoys a proud history and a reputation for innovation and excellence in library and knowledge services. The library network consists of twenty libraries and a mobile service that cover the greater Christchurch area, including our recently opened Turanga, the flagship new Central Library for Christchurch.
We are seeking an experienced and professionally qualified library manager for the role of Manager Community Libraries. This is one of two positions managing half the physical library network and services that we provide to our community. As a key member of the Libraries Leadership Team, you will have seven direct reports and approximately 100 indirect reports. Your previous management experience would have seen you provide strategic direction, set policy and best practice, and initiate key projects in a large environment. You will contribute across the big picture, as well as providing support and guidance on operational matters.
In this role you'll be closely involved with the planning, design and implementation of new services, and you'll be hands on when coaching your team leaders and supporting them to develop a high performance culture. You'll be a strategic thinker who is results focused, has excellent interpersonal skills and a talent for developing people and leading high performing teams.
What makes you a good fit for this role? Please provide a covering letter outlining your desire to be our next Manager Community Libraries, describing your transferable skills relevant to the attached position description.
This is an exciting time to be part of our dynamic service as it redefines contemporary library services and actively supports Christchurch's recovery.
