We have an excellent opportunity for a Gas Distribution Technician in the Gas Business Unit based in our Whangarei depot. Training, leading to NZQA Gas Distribution qualifications will also be provided as part of the technician's role, for suitable candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring the security of supply through routine maintenance and inspection on the distribution network.
Participating in emergency response, site control and repair co-ordination, including 24 hour call roster.
Facilitating the construction and expansion of the distribution network, primarily via a measure and value contract as the engineer's representative.
Liaising with local authorities and utilities.
Promoting pipeline safety initiatives and strategies.
Supervising and co-ordinating direct contract resources and third party contractors.
Participating in the control and allocation of direct cost.
Documenting and reporting on incident reports, maintenance and construction activities.
Contributing to new development and initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Key Skills and Qualifications Required:
A registered Gas Fitter/or Level 3 National Certificate in Gas Network Operations (Operation and Maintenance or Construction)/ or a relevant equivalent New Zealand or overseas Gas Industry qualification.
A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements.
Mechanical aptitude.
Excellent organisation and time management skills.
Good interpersonal skills and customer service focussed.
A team player with emphasis on safety, quality and the environment.
Current full New Zealand driver's license.
A good standard of computer literacy.
Training is available to reach Technician level.
