As a Rookie Instructor at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables or Mt Hutt, we have high expectations that you will strive to deliver an exceptional experience for all our guests in every lesson you deliver, each and every day.
We are looking for some pretty special people! We’re running our first Rookie (not yet qualified) Instructor Hiring Clinic at the beginning of our 2021 winter season, June 12/13 at Mt Hutt and June 19/20 at Coronet Peak for Queenstown based roles.

You’ll be an advanced skier or rider, confident in all terrain and conditions.

During the Rookie Instructor Hiring Clinic, you will begin the journey of training towards becoming a professional ski or snowboard instructor. Led by our highly experienced trainers, this programme is designed only for New Zealand or Australian residents who are inspired to follow one of the best and original pathways into becoming a qualified Ski or Snowboard Instructor. What could be more fun than earning as you’re learning?!
At the end of the 2-day instructor training clinic, applicants may be offered a full-time seasonal ‘intern’ position with NZSki in one of our Queenstown or Mt Hutt Snowsports Schools as a ‘Rookie’ Instructor, with a commitment to a minimum duration of employment over the season. Ongoing training as well as being part of our snowsports team involved in teaching ski or snowboard lessons will prepare you (at no further charge to you) for your NZSIA or SBINZ Level 1 certification. You’ll have an opportunity to progress onto your level 2 certification in the same or following season, based on your development through our in-house training. How could life be better!
Schedule:
Each day of the rookie instructor training clinic will run from 9am - 3.30pm, inclusive of a lunch break.
You must have your own equipment and lift pass for both days. There will be on snow as well as off snow content each day.
An individual meeting with each candidate will be held to advise if you will be selected to join the rookie instructor programme as an intern with us.
Candidates must be minimum of 16 years of age at the time of the Hiring Clinic and there is no age maximum.
All instructors are required to undertake a pre-employment health and work fitness screening by NZSki before employment may be confirmed.
All hiring decisions for rookie instructor internship roles will be final at the end of the instructor training clinic. For those not moving onto the internship programme, this still enables you to move on to your Level 1 instructor course with NZSIA/SBINZ.
For those successful in this process, NZSki will reimburse you for the cost of your NZSIA or SBINZ Level 1 certification course (worth NZ$715), once you have been employed past a certain date in the season.
