This new position has been created to further enhance the quality of clinical services and care provided to patients and whanau at Mercy Hospice.Throughout the 2025 intern year, you will receive in-house education, leadership development, and clinical supervision from an experienced NP and a medical team member.
The NP Intern will work across both the community team and the inpatient unit, gaining advanced-level nursing experience.In 2026, your practicum year will focus on consolidating your clinical skills and knowledge, culminating in being able to submit your NP application and portfolio to Nursing Council of New Zealand in November 2026.Nga Awhina moku / Benefits you will enjoy:During your training you will be working clinically, protected by supernumerary status.Upon qualifying, a guaranteed position as an NP – you will be bonded for a period of 2 years post qualification.The opportunity to shape your role and to be innovative.Autonomy to collaborate with patients and whanau to make the best decisions regarding care and treatment.We have free parking for all staff.Nga pukenga e hiahiatia / Skills you will bring to the role:You will be a senior nurse with at least 3 years' experience in palliative care or similar.Academically prepared to move forward into your final practicum year in 2026.A keenness and desire to work at the top of your scope as an NP.Ability to demonstrate clinical and professional leadership.Preparedness to grow educationally and succeed academically and clinically.An interest and enthusiasm for continuous quality improvement.Demonstrates evidenced based practice.To be considered for this opportunity you must have the following:Have at least 3 years at a senior nursing level in palliative care or similar.Must have completed 'core' papers commensurate with NP curriculum and be educationally ready to complete master's programme by the end of the practicum year, 2026.To apply for this role, please submit a Cover letter, your academic transcript and your CV via our advert on Seek.
