About
the Role
We are seeking applicants to a new position
within the Health New Zealand Canterbury, Children - s Emergency
Care.
A
Nurse Practitioner (NP) for Children - s Emergency Care is responsible for
providing advanced clinical expertise and leadership to enhance access and
quality of care for tamariki (children) and their whanau (family).
You will work within a team of Paediatric and Emergency Consultants, Resident
Medical Officer - s, and Registered Nurses.
You will be supported by Nurse
Practitioner Groups and receive direct clinical supervision by the Consultants
in Children - s Emergency Care.
You
will be responsible for:
* Utilising evidence-based practice to support effective
decision making in the holistic: assessment, planning, treatment, and
evaluation of clinical care * Utilising knowledge of pathophysiology and
pharmacology, as well as advanced assessment skills, to determine
comprehensive diagnoses and plans of care in partnership with patients,
whānau, and the wider care team.
* Collaborate with teams from the Adult Emergency dept,
Paediatric Medical and Surgical Services, Child and Family Mental Health
and the Orthopaedic Department.
* Your caseload of patients will be aged between 0-16yrs.

Children - s Emergency Care has been designed
especially for tamariki and whānau.
This is reflected not only in the child and
family friendly environment, but also by the collaborative way the
multidisciplinary healthcare team work together in partnership with whānau to
provide the best possible health outcomes for the tamariki who spend time
there.
About
you
The
Nurse Practitioner position is open to either:
* A Nurse Practitioner who is currently working in a
Paediatric Emergency service * A current Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatrics who
has completed a Masters Degree and wishes to complete a two year Nurse
Practitioner internship.
The expectation would be that NP
portfolio will be submitted with the two year internship.You will be an effective communicator who
enjoys working within a wider team and collaborating with other services as
required.
You will have excellent organisational skills and a
strong sense of your professional development with motivation to seek ongoing
educational opportunities.
You will report directly to the Director of
Nursing Women - s and Children - s health but have an operational reporting line to
the Charge Nurse Manager of Paediatric Emergency Care.
* Minimum
5 years recent clinical experience in a paediatric emergency nursing role * Minimum
Post Graduate Diploma * Experience
in mentoring, coaching, and informal teaching * A proven ability to work
effectively within a team * Flexible, adaptable, and
promotes a positive attitude within a changing environment * Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with
a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)Working at Health New Zealand
