About the Role: The Nurse Manager at Athenree Life is responsible for both governance and clinical excellence. The role is responsible for leading a team of registered nurses, health care assistants, diversional therapist, administrative staff, housekeeping staff, maintenance and other ancillary staff, towards ensuring the delivery of excellent quality care for residents.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Plans and implements ongoing care direction compliant with Ministry of Health (MOH) contracts, and maintains relationships with these and other allied agencies and health care professionals Maintains both clinical and non-clinical aspects of running the facility to a standard that meets the requirements of certification and surveillance audits conducted by the MOH Leads and supports the team to deliver a level of care consistent with the Group's CARE Values of Competence, Authenticity, Respect and Empathy Ensures maximum resident occupancy Delivery of Care Ensures safe, efficient and effective nursing practice through the day-to-day support and direction of staff members, liaison with and attending to the concerns of residents and their family members, and the performance of administrative duties Ensures InterRai Assessments are completed and comprehensive care plans are written for each resident and that these are evaluated at least 6 monthly or when changes occur Ensures care staff adhere to the care plans, and are always working towards positive outcomes in the overall wellbeing of the resident The needs of residents are met through the delivery of safe, holistic and professional nursing care Oversees medication administration and ensure staff competence is tested and signed off Operational Maintains a high standard of housekeeping services Maintains thorough knowledge of and implements all administrative procedures Be on call as required Be responsible for notifications to appropriate authorities, i.e., coroner, police, Worksafe. Promotes a healthy and safe environment in the facility for staff, residents, family members, and visitors Quality and Continuous Improvement Works with the team to design and implement quality improvement programmes for the facility, ensuring a high standard of documentation that monitor and assess outcomes Continuous quality improvement across both clinical and governance aspects of the facility Ensures adequate staff coverage of the facility and implements a relevant continuing education programme for all staff Attends relevant training programmes, participates in and conducts performance reviews This is a full time role, usual schedule is Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.
Requirements: 4+ years in aged care or disabilities, with 1 year in a team lead/management role NZ nursing registration with a current practising certificate Experience with NZ health care facility audit is a plus Familiar with Nga Paerewa Health and Disability Standards Knowledge of te reo Maori a definite plus Committed to enhancing the lives of older people Strong collaboration skills with diverse teams Effective communication with residents and staff of different ethnicities Responsible, accountable, and adaptable Excellent leadership, delegation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Good physical fitness Full NZ driver license and work rights About Athenree Life: Athenree Life is a 43 bed facility offering rest home, hospital level, memory care, day stay and respite services for older people.
