About the role
At Vector Fibre we are transforming our operational model using innovative technology platforms to better serve our customers and manage our networks. We need a Network Automation Engineer to help automate business as usual NetOps tasks across both system and network facing infrastructure.This role function is to design, develop test and maintain tools and scripts for managing the network infrastructure and services. Other responsobilities include -
Working end to end with NetOps, Architects and Product teams to understand and document a process to identify and implement automation solutions where logical
Design, develop, deliver and own tools to solve complex network management and monitoring tasks
- service models
- device templates
- monitoring of network health
- deploying/auditing configuration across multi-vendor network devices
- automation of change management eg. device upgrade
Write appropriate documentation and tests for all tools
Help embed a culture of automation within the wider company
Assist in mentoring of junior staff
You'll be familar with all the technologies we currently use - Python, Linux, YANG based model driven orchestrators, IOS, XE, XR & Various other CLI managed Oses, NETCONF, SNMP, NETFLOW, Syslog and ServiceNow
About You
To be successfull in this role you will bring the following -
Experience working for a Network Service Provider or Telco (3+ years)
Strong Python experience (3+ years) in a production environment
Sound knowledge of the SDLC
Version Control systems e.g. Gitlab
Proficient with Linux (RHEL, CentOS)
Good understanding of networking and in a Service Provider context eg. (MPLS VPN services, TCP/IP fundamentals, switching and routing)
Good understanding of legacy management interfaces CLI, SNMP and modern interfaces such as NETCONF, ReSTCONF
Ability to develop secure, scalable network automation tools from the ground up as needed.
Strong desire to continue learning and developing skills
Attention to detail
Previous experience with Flask/Django & J2
Experience Distributing/Scaling of tools
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols
Previous experience with model driven orchestrators
Prior experience with Cloud services in AWS
