Are you looking for a new challenge? Southern District Health Board has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Medical Secretary to join our friendly team in Dunedin Hospital on a full time permanent basis.

About Southern DHB
Southern DHB has the largest regional coverage of all the New Zealand health boards, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities across a huge geographical area. We take pride in all the services we provide and our aim is to improve, promote and protect the health of our region. We believe that our dedicated and passionate staff are a significant driving force behind the achievement of these standards, and we need more like minded people to help us continue providing for our community.
About the Role – what’s in it for me?
The Gastroenterology service is expanding and you will be joining a busy team who provide a first class service to patients within our DHB. The primary focus of the role is to provide efficient and timely medical secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants, Registrars and Nurse Specialists.
You will have responsibility for the booking and managing of patients into clinics using the patient management system (iPM) for outpatient and endoscopic procedures in Dunedin, Invercargill and Central Otago.
There will also be additional duties such as directing patients and taking calls at ward reception so a flexible approach is essential, thus ensuring the patient journey through the gastroenterology service is as stress free as possible for the patient.

Our ideal candidate will be available Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.30am and 5.00pm. Working hours will be discussed at interview but please keep this in mind when applying. The salary range for this position is between $43,580 – $51,259 pro-rata and will be agreed upon based on experience and qualifications.

About You
We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people and tasks, often all at the same time! Your background will be in varied administration positions that demonstrate your ability to provide high quality administration services within a busy office setting. Previous hospital administration experience and familiarity with iPM will be a huge advantage but we will also consider applicants that can show us they have transferable skills from previous roles.
To succeed in this role you will need to have:
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
• Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
• The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
• Strong typing and computer skills are essential
Closing Date: Sunday 5th April 2020
