Details of the offer

Our Purpose: Why we do it
When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.
The Team: What we do
We are looking for a Locum Medical Oncologist to join our team for up to six months in providing specialist tertiary care.
Our Canterbury Regional Cancer and Haematology Service (CRCHS) is one of two tertiary centres delivering medical oncology and chemotherapy treatment in the South Island. We cover the needs of patients from the Canterbury, South Canterbury and West Coast Districts and support the South Island Child Cancer Service and the South Island Regional Gynaecological Oncology Service. Our dedicated Oncology Ward has 25 of the 650 beds within the Hospital. A separate Bone Marrow Transplant Unit which is a 15 bed facility including nine individual isolation rooms accommodates our haematology patients.
The CRCHS maintains close links with the University of Otago's Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. There are also close links with research groups in genetics and tissue banking and are active participants in international and Australasian clinical trials.
The Role: Where you fit in
There is a dedicated oncology day ward which delivers chemotherapy treatment. The Medical Oncology service sees approximately 7000 patients per year and an average of 25 - 30 chemotherapy treatments weekly.
We currently have a fixed term role for a Medical Oncologist and to be considered for this position you will need to hold the FRANZCR or an equivalent qualification that would enable registration as a specialist medical oncologist by the Medical Council of New Zealand
Our Culture: What matters to us
Ko Te Whatu Manawa Tangata
Putting people at the heart of all we do
Health is ultimately all about people. What's important around here is the way we care for and respect others, the responsibility taken for delivering outcomes, and going about our work with integrity.
Belonging Here: Becoming part of our story
Being part of the Canterbury District Health Board, you will enjoy a fantastic benefits scheme, the opportunity for flexible working arrangements and ongoing focus on your career development.
