New Zealand Northland District Health Board advocates for affirmative action and actively seeks Maori into our workforce to reflect the community we serve.
We are seeking an experienced Medical Oncologist to permanently join our team at the Jim Carney Cancer Center located at Whangarei Hospital.
Our Cancer and Blood service provides a comprehensive outpatient service with nine treatment chairs. We care for the entire Northland region including Dargaville, Bay of Islands, and Kaitaia. We have a satellite unit in Kaitaia providing some non-complex treatments.
The position is currently based at Whangarei but with regional service development, some travel may occasionally be required to the regional hospitals in the future.
There is investment occurring to establish a radiation service in the next few years.
There is no after-hours call requirement.
You will need to participate in the supervision and instruction of junior medical staff within the cancer and blood service.
All applicants must have current vocational registration in the speciality of internal medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
A knowledge of and passion for te reo and tikanga Maori would be useful.
