About the role:
We are seeking a Maori Clinician/Registered Health Professional to provide safe and clinically effective assessment and intervention for the rangatahi. You will be required to undertake comprehensive cultural assessments which will guide the MDT and support the staff in applying the underpinning Maori Models of Care - Te Whare Tapa Wha and Meihana models. You will work with whanau and encourage their involvement and engagement in the treatment of the rangatahi. You will support and guide all staff and rangatahi in developing and understanding their cultural identity, including the use of Te Reo and ensure that the principles of Te Ao Maori are embedded in the day to day running of the unit.
Duties
Undertake cultural assessments
Work alongside the rangatahi and staff to promote the implementation of cultural practices and Te Reo
Engage whanau in the care and treatment of the rangatahi

Skills & Experience
In depth Te Ao Maori knowledge
Experienced Registered Health Professional - Nursing/Social Work/Occupational Therapy/Psychology
Current Practising Certificate
Inpatient experience preferred

About Nga Taiohi:
The newNational Youth Forensic Inpatient Service - Nga Taiohi. Nga Taiohiis a purpose built unit with 10 beds. It provides an inpatient service for youth offenders with a mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues. This secure youth forensic unit is co-located with the existing Youth Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit (Rangatahi) and the Youth Intellectual Disability (ID) Inpatient Unit (Hikitia Te Wairua) in the Centre of Excellence at Kenepuru Hospital, Porirua (which is about 20 minutes drive from Wellington City. This new unit opened in April 2016 and is part of theMental Health, Addictions & Intellectual Disability Service 3DHB .
