About the role

| Korero mo te turangaThis is an exciting time to join New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) and to take up the newly created Manager, Pandemic Resilience position. This role will lead the implementation of an ambitious project of bringing together critical capability to prepare the food safety system to operate effectively during a pandemic.
In addition to bringing together capability, you will be responsible for providing fit-for-purpose, up-to-date advice and information to ensure that the Deputy Director-General, New Zealand Food Safety, MPI Director General, Ministers and our food system customers are informed and can provide effective pandemic-related decisions.
This is a critical role which will ensure that in the event of a pandemic, the core food safety system service will be able to operate with minimal impact and as the future of the world is unknown, a framework that is enduring and agile which can withstand any pandemic or threat environment is a key outcome of this team.
As the Manager of the Pandemic Resilience Team, you will also be responsible for the recruitment and leadership of a small team to support you in this endeavour. The team will consist of both generalist and specialist skill sets, which you will need to balance to bring effect to your vision and strategy.
In NZFS, you will be working alongside passionate people who are committed in continuing their work in ensuring that the food safety system is providing safe and suitable food in New Zealand and for export.

The Manager, Pandemic Resilience sits in Salary Band B with an indicative salary range of $128,247 - $150,879 (mid-point) depending on skill set and experience.

As a high performing leader, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in a Business or Emergency Management discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience in people leadership, management, development, and building a team
Track record of successful operational management of a complex programme of work
Proven experience in managing relationships and consultation with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Established reputation as an expert in planning and/or readiness capability – ideally within a Government agency
