An opportunity has arisen for a Manager – Ministerial Engagement in the Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) group. Reporting to the Director of the Office of the Deputy Secretary (MIQ), you will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating MIQ's relationship with the Minister's office. This involves working closely with the operations and policy General Managers to provide quality and timely reporting and advice. Also ensuring that MIQ officials are well prepared for their engagements with the Minister. You will also oversee the Ministerial Services Team that handles official information act and privacy act requests, and ministerial correspondence.
To be successful in this role, you have;
A proven record of experience and achievement in delivering a service delivery function in a large organisation
A proven track record working with the ministers' offices
Proven leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to engage, coach and motivate staff
Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships at all levels
A strategic thinker and proven ability to develop trust and credibility with senior managers
A strong understanding of the processes that underpin the operations of the public sector environment including policy development, cabinet and parliamentary processes and accountability and reporting
The ability to gain and maintain a national security clearance to level Confidential
Managed Isolation and Quarantine
Managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) is one of the four pillars of New Zealand's response to COVID-19. We help keep New Zealand safe by stopping COVID-19 entering the community from the border. Since July 2020, MBIE has had overall responsibility for MIQ, however, we work with a range of other agencies, including New Zealand Defence Force and the Ministry of Health, to deliver a safe and effective service.
Our work is fast-paced, high-profile and important to the ongoing safety and wellbeing of New Zealanders. The successful person will be someone who can hit the ground running and is comfortable dealing with ambiguity, rapidly changing situations, and working with the operational, strategic and policy arms of MIQ.
