What you will do
As the Manager, you will provide strong leadership and management oversight of the Force Health Organisation. Your strong leadership and management skills will ensure that health services are delivered effectively, efficiently and safely for clinicians and military personnel in the domestic (non-deployed) environment.
The role works closely with peers responsible for leading the Deployable Health Organisation and the Executive Officer of Health. All three leaders report to the Joint Support Component Command and the Defence Health Directorate. Strong interpersonal skills will ensure all stakeholders are kept appropriately informed of issues within the three areas of health delivery, while also providing input into policy to ensure strategic decisions are able to be delivered operationally.
What we need
We are seeking a person with significant experience in three main areas:
Broad experience working in a health delivery environment;
Significant management experience that has involved direct oversight and responsibility for large teams of personnel, and associated management of budgets
Experience in leading managers, preferably across multiple locations

Underpinning the knowledge and skills you have obtained by working within the areas mentioned above is your sound knowledge of New Zealand Health legislation and regulatory compliance. You have a strategic orientation which enables you to identify and address long term issues and opportunities while taking into account organisation-wide complexities when defining or implementing new strategies.
Being an exceptional communicator with confident interpersonal skills you can build strategic alliances across a diverse range of stakeholders. These attributes also ensure you are a deeply effective leader of people. You do this by encouraging self-development and personnel wellbeing, by coaching and maintaining cross-team engagement.
Problem solving is at the core of your role, with your proven ability to analyse and solve complex problems while thinking systemically in an environment of constant change. Having an organisation-wide and 'systems thinking' perspective enables you to keep looking up and out, maintaining that critical wider overview while mapping out the path to good for your team.
In terms of qualifications we are ideally seeking a degree (ideally post graduate) in health or a management related discipline, with relevant leadership training and experience added into the mix. Previous experience within a military command and control context would be valuable, but is seen as desirable, not essential.

The FHO delivers health services to NZDF military personnel in New Zealand to maintain, improve and restore health in order to enhance Force effectiveness. The FHO provides a holistic, multidisciplinary and integrated approach to health care.
