This is a key role within the Council leading the financial aspects of our long term plan, annual reports and monthly reporting. Working closely with the leadership team and managers across the organisation to drive financial excellence, you will lead a professional team of 4 people (Analyst, Accountant, Management Accountant & Financial Accountant) who together, deliver the financial management systems, processes and information that support the elected members and management team.
Using a business partner model, the team offers accounting, analytical and modelling support to the organisation to improve decision making and financial accountability, as well as strengthening the financial literacy of our Team Leaders and Business Unit Managers.
In addition, this team are our champions for excellent financial management, and are responsible for providing strategic financial planning to Council and the organisation, as well as maintaining oversight of Council’s finances, ensuring we meet our financial Key Performance Indicators and achieve statutory compliance with a satisfactory annual audit.
Your reputation and energy for improving the quality of financial information to aid decision makers, and providing credible and practical information advice to senior leaders and to those in governance roles, is what sets you apart from others in your field.

your people leadership expertise
experienced finance management background (including forecasting, finance systems savvy, designing reports, consolidating financial statements)
how you have improved financial literacy in organisations
excellent communication skills (business report writing, ability to tell a story using financial data, quickly building positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners)
relevant post graduate qualifications (CA qualified)
confident communicator (experience of presenting at governance or senior management levels)
being a trusted and credible adviser to a senior leadership team.
