As Manager Community Engagement, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a team delivering a broad and dynamic programme of public engagement, outreach, exhibitions, events, education and philanthropic initiatives.You'll be responsible for growing community capability, delivering national and regional programmes, and helping ensure our spaces and services are welcoming and inclusive.
This role combines big-picture thinking with hands-on programme delivery, and is key to the visibility, relevance and reach of both institutions.What we're looking forWe're seeking an experienced people leader who brings:Proven leadership experience in a public programming, community engagement, or cultural heritage settingA strong background in designing and delivering audience-focused exhibitions, events and learning experiencesExperience managing multidisciplinary teams in a creative or engagement environmentDeep understanding of working with iwi, Maori and diverse communities, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o WaitangiExperience with stakeholder engagement, philanthropic relationships and multi-agency collaborationA strategic mindset and practical project delivery skillsThe ability to manage public spaces and high-profile visitor experiencesYou will be confident leading outreach and engagement across a wide range of audiences and platforms, and excited by the challenge of continuously improving the way we connect people to our collections and kaupapa.About usAt the Department of Internal Affairs, we are committed to strengthening trust in government, enabling informed citizenship, and preserving the knowledge and taonga of Aotearoa for future generations.
