Situated on Port Phillip Bay around 7km west of central Melbourne, Hobsons Bay is an established municipality with over 20kms of coastline, a rich natural environment, a diverse community and local economy including a growing number of manufacturing, transport and goods distribution companies and service industries. The city is superbly located, with great access to key transport facilities.
Under its recently appointed CEO, Hobsons Bay City Council is entering an exciting period of transformation. Reporting to the Director Infrastructure and City Services, the Manager Capital Works leads a team of Engineers and Project Managers responsible for managing the delivery of Councils capital works program.
You will bring experience in the management, planning, design and delivery of projects and building works, with both practical and technical knowledge related to construction. Of critical importance is your demonstrated expertise in problem solving of complex construction issues including access, design and contingency planning, as well as in managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
As a growth area for Council, we are seeking an individual with the vision and leadership to drive this expansion whilst ensuring a high quality of delivery and continually seeking to raise the capacity and capability of the team.
Experience of the Local Government sector would be an advantage but is not essential. Your leadership skills, proven ability to embrace and drive change and highly developed political and commercial acumen will be of critical importance, as will outstanding communication skills and high levels of energy, integrity and resilience.
