The vision is that the business register, which stood alone until now, will be integrated and aligned to function as one of the foundational base registers in a register-based statistical system. This role will be key in ensuring the business register is maintained to a high quality, while future development is explored.
We are seeking a dynamic Manager, Business Register on a permanent full-time basis located in Auckland.
In this position you will skillfully lead and motivate your team, providing development and growth opportunities to help them reach their potential. You will need to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships to ensure current and future needs of customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and internal business partners are well understood. Your ability to apply sound operational management and planning practices will ensure that your team and unit deliver on time, within budget, and to agreed standards. You will set and communicate the direction for your team in the context of unit, group and organisational strategies, and also encourage innovation and lead continuous improvement and transformational change that adds value for customers, stakeholders, and suppliers.

In your CV and covering letter please outline your suitability for this position and your ability to:
Demonstrate a credible understanding of official statistics to confidently interact with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, internal business partners and the people in your team.
Be part of an international community who collaborate and share best practice.
Successfully manage and lead people (the Business Register team has 6/7 staff).
Organise a work programme covering multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Showcase your senior technical expertise and knowledge of the business register (preferably).
Think operationally and strategically.
Influence others to enable delivery of goals.
Understanding of macro-economics and statistics (would be an advantage)
Commit to learning/understanding, or your knowledge/familiarity or Te Ao Maori, including ensuring opportunities at Stats NZ reach the Maori community.
