Management Accountant

The Company My client is a large multinational wealth management business with operations in a substantial property business. The business manages a number of complexes across New Zealand. The incumbent is going on maternity leave, hence the vacancy. My client is looking for someone to start in November.
The Role
The role of Management Accountant/Finance Manager is varied. You will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and have a dotted line to the Head of Finance and be responsible for business partnering two of the major Business Units, which involves being the finance link to the operations managers.
You will have responsibility for the budgeting, management reporting on month end, re-forecasting, Audit pack preparation, and analysis. The intricacies in this role revolve around understanding the industry, being able to interpret contracts and agreements, being able to account for costs of vacancies, rent free period, moving tenancies, mini developments and the effect on tenancy contracts and the like.
Therefore previous experience in the property industry will be very beneficial and sought after. There is no staff management in this role but you will have the support of an Accounting operations team working alongside you who are there to provide this service to your area.
Your Profile
To be considered for this role you need to be CA qualified. Obviously prior commercial experience will be a very big advantage. You must have strong technical understanding at the Management Accounting level but what is super important is your ability to business partner with operational people. You must be able to communicate in layman terms and be comfortable presenting financial information to these individuals who ultimately own the budgets. Your role will be to help them understand, guide and advise them on the financial impact.
