Mana Ake Kaimahi NonClinical Community Youth and Child Services is a service of St John of God Hauora Trust a Catholic not for profit organisation that prides itself on providing distinctive care based on our Mission and Values of Hospitality Compassion Respect Justice and Excellence We are looking for a full time 40 hours per week experienced Practitioner with qualifications in or related to child mental health and with experience working in community settings and preferably in schools This role will ideally suit a qualified Social Worker Nurse Counsellor Occupational Therapist or Teacher with a passion for working with children and families who are facing complex challenges This role is part of the established CDHB Mana Ake Mental Health in School s initiative The role is fixedterm until 30 June 2021 The Mana Ake Stronger for Tomorrow initiative aims to work with and through school communities to support families and whanau with children from years one to eight who are experiencing ongoing challenges that are impacting their wellbeing As part of this role you will provide practical support and positive strategies to build resilience for children referred to the service and their families through primary schools This work will often require a multilevel collaboration and or partnered responses with a variety of support systems within community agencies in order to facilitate good outcomes with our clients Ideal skills and experience Sound working knowledge of the key agencies that work with families in the health education and community sectors Confident to work both independently and alongside others who are working within school cluster Working knowledge of behavioural and developmental issues relating to families and children Has a working knowledge of CYP F Act Children s Action Plan including Vulnerable Children s Act and Domestic Violence Act or willingness to train Has experience in liaising with other stakeholder groups for example Oranga Tamariki CYF Work and Income schools other education and health providers other relevant community agencies Membership to an appropriate professional body Strong facilitation skills Knowledge and understanding and commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Highly developed written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to utilise information technology including case management systems Ideally you will be IT literate and able to work in a busy environment comfortable managing a caseload while contributing your skills and expertise to the broader team For an application form and position description please email cycss recruitment sjog org nz or phone 03386 2159 quoting reference number SJGCYCS1098 Applications close 5pm 8 March 2020
