Maître D - Nova

Nova is prominent cafe and restaurant situated in the heart of the octagon. Our a la carte menu boasts of European bistro style, seasonal and local produce and our coffee is always served to your liking.

To support the smooth functioning of our Front of House team; Nova Dunedin is currently recruiting for an incredible Maître D to host our customers with exceptional service and manage staff with vigour and consistency. We want someone who thrives in a busy environment and has excellent hosting skills coupled with a second to none service when it comes to dealing with our guests. We want someone who remembers their names and perhaps even the coffee they drink! Our goal is to ensure all of our guests receive a positive Nova experience each and every time.

Key responsibilities include:

Hosting duties, you will greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
Demonstrate a high level of table service
Have a solid knowledge of the menu and wine list
Provide top service consistently across the whole restaurant
Manage the staff to create a team environment and utilise staff strengths and weaknesses to your advantage for efficiency
Work with the kitchen for quality control
Identify and liaise with management team on areas of improvement within staff team and menu issues/ideas

Skills needed:
Previous experience in the hospitality industry
The ability to work in a busy environment and deal with constant interruptions and changes of duties
Organisation and prioritising skills
A professional, courteous and pleasant manner
Commitment to a high level of customer service
Capacity to work independently, quietly and efficiently, with a minimum level of supervision required. It will be necessary to work as a flexible and co-operative team member as well
Professional presentation
Flexibility to work day and/or evenings including weekends

Must be a NZ Resident and be able to attend an interview in person
