Based in Oringi, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the local community by ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient maintenance of the district's road network.The Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal leadership role within the Tararua Alliance, overseeing the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all road maintenance activities in the region.
You will be part of the extended leadership team, working closely with the Delivery Manager and key Alliance stakeholders to deliver against contract expectations, level of service, and community outcomes.In this role, you will be responsible for leading a skilled team, managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and overseeing plant and equipment utilisation.
You will also drive the implementation of strategic maintenance programmes, develop staff capability, and contribute to innovation in service delivery.Lead and manage the planning and execution of road maintenance operations across the Tararua DistrictBuild, lead and mentor a high-performing team that embodies collaboration and a "best for network mindset"Build and maintain strong relationships with Tararua District Council, Downer teams, consultants, subcontractors, and the wider communityChampion a culture of Zero Harm, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, quality, and environmental proceduresResponsible for allocating resources to reactive and planned emergency work situations as neededProven experience in leading road maintenance or civil infrastructure projectsBE (Civil).
NZ Diploma in engineering (Civil), or other relevant tertiary qualificationsStrong leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contracts, and suppliersDemonstrated ability to deliver against key performance indicators and service levelsExcellent understanding of plant and resource management, financial oversight, and reportingExperience with project and/or contract management in civil engineering or transport infrastructureWant to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
