Te Turanga/About the RoleOur Hokitika site is Silver Fern Farms only processing facility in the West Coast of the South Island, employing just over 120 people at the peak of the season.We are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team as a Leading Hand, responsible for the hands-on day to day leadership within our small but strong mechanical engineering team. Someone who is maybe looking to take their first step down the leadership path, leading by example all the way and encouraging a collaborative and cohesive team from the front.You will have the opportunity to be involved in projects and installation of new site equipment as well as a wide range of mechanical engineering applications across the site. If you are interested in using your mechanical skills on a large industrial food processing site, and like the idea of working for one of New Zealand's largest food exporters, we look forward to hearing from you.Ou Pukenga/About YouPrevious experience in FMCG or transferrable production engineering environments would be an advantage, but the key is the ability to work as part of a team, to identify faults and use analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the processing plant. Working as a leader, all the while being entrenched as part of a maintenance team, candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done as well as thinking outside of the box - we appreciate and encourage new ideas and thought processes about how we can collaborate across our site to ensure the get to the root cause of issues and fix it right - first time.Our site operates both day and evening shifts. Our team of Maintenance teams are required to work to a roster covering production hours which run between 5:00AM and 4:00PM Monday to Friday most of the season and a late shift about 12 weeks a year that would be an afternoon shift. Due to us working around production, this can occasionally include overtime during the day on Saturdays/ Sundays during projects and shutdown so flexibility to business needs - or understanding of this is important - but in return we will provide you with good $, OT after 45 hours every week, some great training /development and a stellar team of work mates and senior leaders in the business, who not only want to see you succeed - but will support you along the way.The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:Relevant Trades Qualification (Level 4 Mechanical Diagnostics | Fitter/Turner | Fitter/Welder OR L4 Automotive Engineer | Time spent LV/ HD Mechanic)Good knowledge of sound engineering principals and repairs and maintenance procedures on a large industrial processing site - or a passion to learn in this environment.Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you.Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a tight knit team of engineering supportOrganised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a challenging engineering environment and lead by example from the front.Desire to keep learning and upskill - be this in a leadership scope or dual trading in to electrical - refrigeration or even project design.Te Ahurea/Why work for Silver Fern Farms?Silver Fern Farms are all about Creating Goodness from the Farms the World Needs.
