About the opportunity:
Our client has an exciting opening for a full time Line Mechanic in their Taranaki location. This is a great opportunity to work for a well-established company who is the West Coast’s leading domestic, industrial and commercial electrical contractors.
Role description:
The main focus of the role is to effectively undertake electrical line construction, maintenance and repairs for the customers, to the highest level of electrical standards. With this, the Line Mechanic ensures the health and safety requirements are met at all times, including engaging with fellow workers on risks being encountered and effectiveness of mitigations. Other responsibilities include quality assurance, resource maintenance, and record keeping.
Responsibilities will include:
Uphold and promote safety, quality and environmental control improvementsParticipate in toolbox meetings, take part in open and frank discussionsAttend training sessions to ensure requirements for registration renewal are metMaintain a high standard of quality and customers specifications are metDevise ways to increase both the work of the company and its customer baseLiaise and co-ordinate work with external contractors (e.g. builders, plumbers)Ensure vehicles and equipments are well maintained, and in good working orderComplete timesheets, leave forms, vehicle mileage forms on a daily basisOpen and complete job sheets; include any information specific to the job
This role will suit someone with the following background / experience / qualities:
Plant operating experience and licences (e.g. cranes, diggers, forklift)Team player and able to take a constructive approach to team effortsDemonstrates pride and enthusiasm and a persistence to complete workCurrent New Zealand registration as a Distribution Line MechanicDemonstrates knowledge and understanding of relevant New Zealand legislationCan travel and work away at remote sitesFull New Zealand drivers licenceAble to keep up with the physical demands of the role
