About the role - what's in it for me?
Due to retirement we are now looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Librarian for the full-time position of Library Manager for our District Library Service. There are some big shoes to fill here so we are looking for someone who will take full management responsibility for the provision of library services to all Southern DHB staff across the District. This includes sole charge of the Dunedin Hospital Staff Library and the management of the Southland Hospital Library and staff. As our new Library Manager your key responsibilities will include the following:
Management of the District Service and its libraries in Dunedin and Invercargill
Staff management, budgetary control, purchasing of suitable resources to ensure the collections and services meet current requirements and all DHB and external relevant standards
Providing library resources and information services to staff in Dunedin hospital and the wider district as required to support patient care, research and continuing education for all Southern DHB staff, including specialist literature searching and staff training
Liaising with Suppliers and Health Library consortia for product purchases
Cataloguing of new resources to NLM classification and standards
Marketing and promoting the District Library Service to staff and being proactive in the encouragement of full use of the library resources and collections
Maintaining the Library website
Oversight and assistance with the Te Puna, OCLC and NLM interlibrary loan services

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the Southern Health Library Service in the new Interprofessional Learning Centre as part of the redevelopment of Dunedin Hospital. Very exciting times!
About you
We are looking for an experienced librarian with at least three to five years experience. You will be self-motivated, customer centric and comfortable working with a wide variety of staff from different disciplines. You will need to be quick thinking, adaptable to changing situations, able to prioritise your workload and display a natural attention to detail. Knowledge of special libraries will be key to your success in this position and your understanding of Health Science Libraries a specific advantage.
About the team
Our small library team comprises a full time Assistant Librarian based at the Southland (Invercargill) Hospital library with day to day oversight of the operations of the library and who also takes care of our interloan service. Plus, a part-time Library Assistant in Invercargill who works mainly in Records Management, providing library cover and assistance as required.
