Applicants should state their professional experience and outline their curriculum/subject expertise.
A strength in literacy education and/or human development is an advantage.
Current teacher registration with the New Zealand Teaching Council is a requirement as the successful applicants will be expected to visit and evaluate student teachers on practicum.This is a permanent role.
Applicants will hold a Doctoral degree, will be research-active, and willing to make a contribution to the academic community of the School of Education.Teaching and Postgraduate SupervisionResearchAcademic CitizenshipTeam ContributionKo wai koe | About youThe successful applicant for this role will:Engage in sound teaching for effective student learning by adopting a scholarly approach to curriculum development, teaching, and leading curriculum changes.Undertake research scholarship and advanced professional practice by developing research and scholarship programmes that produce quality outputs which contribute to academic knowledge and have an emerging reputation through increasing numbers of research and scholarly outputs in appropriate quality outlets.Develop a research plan with annual outputs.
Produce research and publication outputs through participation in appropriate research projects, either alone or as part of a team, as negotiated with the Director of Research.
Maintain a record of research in Research Elements.Make solid contributions to the implementation of AUT's strategic direction by contributing to effective, high-performing teams and building professional and academic networks.Contribute to the efficient operation of high-performing teams with effective outcomes of work, team(s), and quality management systems, and strategic planning and processes in the School and the Faculty.Positively demonstrate and model insights into the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi through personal action and provide similar opportunities for students.Have a solid understanding of and connection to the Early Childhood Primary sector with relevant experience or engagement that informs your teaching and practice.Have a collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute positively to a high-performing, supportive academic team.Be experienced in mentoring students and/or colleagues, with strong leadership skills that promote growth, development, and excellence in others.Provide thoughtful academic and professional guidance to students, supporting their learning journey and wellbeing.Be adaptable, responsive, and open to change, with a proactive attitude toward innovation and continuous improvement.Generous leave allowancesFlexible and hybrid working optionsAt AUT, we offer a genuine work-life balance with flexible working arrangements.
