The School of Psychology is the largest in Aotearoa New Zealand and has international research leaders across a wide range of research fields, including cognitive neuroscience and social, clinical, critical, community, health, organisational, developmental, behavioural and evolutionary psychology and Indigenous psychologies.
We have professional postgraduate programmes in clinical psychology, applied behaviour analysis, organisational psychology and speech science. The School has extensive research space and a significant investment in research infrastructure, and has just moved into a new building with state-of-the-art facilities.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The School of Psychology recognises the importance of building capacity within the Pacific psychology workforce and developing psychological research and knowledge that engages with Pacific communities in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
We are committed to increasing Pacific student numbers, particularly at postgraduate level, so we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Pacific) to facilitate the ongoing development and implementation of psychology teaching, research and knowledge with a focus on Pacific communities.
Your responsibilities will be forces in the following three areas:
Teaching and learning by contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching relevant to their area of expertise and to Pacific students and communities.
Research by undertaking an active, appropriate, and viable personal research programme and by disseminating knowledge through scholarly research activities and publications, as well as through appropriate community and public dissemination.
Service by carrying out administrative responsibilities appropriate to the position whilst participating in University and School committees. You will also ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, research and administrative practices.

We are looking for someone who is aiming to grow on their already deep understanding of pacific health challenges, with a passion for teaching and research as well as the commitment to serving communities.
A PhD in Psychology or equivalent
Teaching experience (preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) with a consistent record of teaching evaluation, reflection, and improvement
An excellent academic publication record, appropriate to the appointment level sought.
Demonstration of commitment to equity for Pacific in teaching, research and service
Conversant in or knowledge of Pacific language is valued, but not required
Demonstration of leadership in Pacific health, education or communities
Knowledge of Pacific research methodologies
