Learning Support Coordinator

Area / composite (Years 1–15) English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Maori, The arts IA, ASPTSA, additional MU may be available in discussion with successful applicant Our school has approximately 120 students in Y1-14 and is located in stunning South Westland, half way between Hokitika and Franz Josef. We have many classic West Coast Outdoor recreational opportunities on our doostep. Hokitika is a 45-minute drive away, so we have the advantage of living in a small rural community with quick access to larger facilities such as supermarkets, retail, trades and other services. We are looking for a dedicated learning support coordinator LSC to be based at South Westland Area School, working with a number of other schools across our TOSI Kahui ako. The purpose of the LSC is to ensure that young people with additional learning needs have access to the services they need to thrive. You will work closely with akonga and whanau to identify learning challanges and to implement effective support strategies, across a number of schools. We are seeking someone with the following qualities: - A commitment and passion to provide learning support for a wide range of students. - Able to support and maintain an inclusive school/kura and cluster environment where all students participate, progress and make successfull transitions. - The ability to collaborate successfully with leadership teams, kaiako and SENCO across the Kahui ako schools to ensure the needs of all students are met. - Can support and build strong relationships with parents and whanau. - Is flexible and willing to respond to needs across the Kahui ako as needed. - Is willing to contribute to their kura school-wide activities.
