Learning Designer for altLAB
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a vibrant, achievement-oriented and rewarding place to work. We have over 29,000 students and 2,500 staff across our three teaching campuses.
We are looking to recruit two Learning Designers for our newly created entity at AUT - altLAB (AUT's Learning Transformation Laboratory). This incorporates a realignment of our Centre for Learning and Teaching and will position AUT at the fore of contemporary professional learning practices for academic staff. As a central university service, we cover a broad range of educational practice, which includes innovative pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, digital learning and scholarship/pedagogical research.
The Role
The position reports to the Director, Professional Learning/Head of altLAB and is responsible for contributing to teaching and learning quality and innovation, supporting faculties to design, develop and deliver transformative learning. You will
use innovative pedagogical theory and practice and emerging technologies in the design and delivery of student learning experiences, in a range of learning environments - face to face, blended, flipped, mobile and online
work in close partnership with other members of altLAB to strengthen the quality of the learning experience
build staff capability in the appropriate use of digital technologies and promote innovative pedagogical and assessment approaches to enhance teaching and curriculum design practices
design sustainable, high quality learning and assessment resources and activities incorporating evidence-based design principles

Key Selection Criteria
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline area, or equivalent accreditation of standing. Completion of a PhD is desirable.
Experience in planning, designing and developing educational approaches and implementing learning design methodologies which incorporate evidence-based pedagogy.
Sound practical knowledge in the field of higher education, including curriculum architecture, pedagogy and assessment acquired through relevant experience.
Proven ability to plan, design and deliver professional learning activities and resources which increase the update of appropriate technology enhanced teaching practice to improve the student learning experience.
Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Ability to understand emerging technologies and how they might be adapted as tools in a higher education pedagogical environment.
Technological skills including competence in a range of software applications related to teaching and learning.
