Language Testing Officer

The purpose of the Language testing officer is to assist with the maintenance of the Aviation Language Proficiency (ALP) testing question and exam bank. This includes, determining best practice in the field of aviation language testing and assisting with implementation of new tests.
Aspeq provides computerised ALP tests that are carried out over the telephone for candidates in New Zealand, Australia, and Hong Kong. Our interlocutor/rater team is managed from our Lower Hutt office.
This role is suited to a new graduate seeking a specialist role suited to their field of study. This is a 6-month project to determine the future direction of aviation language testing and how to best incorporate features for the tests.
Over the 6 months, we’d expect:
A review of existing aviation language proficiency testing documentation including ICAO Doc. 9835

Recommendations regarding changes to improve our ALP test including but not limited to:
Different formats and content for specific customer groups

Training of raters and interlocutors

Development of items types to test different skills on the ICAO rating scale

A report detailing the future of language testing to assist identify potential global markets for our model

The applicant should be comfortable collaborating with others within the company. Versatility and willingness to learn and experiment will be highly regarded.

The applicant should have the ability to travel, including internationally, if required.
