You will be a part of the Landscape Architecture team here at the Council that are responsible for the design and construction of public parks and reserves, playgrounds, waterways and constructed wetlands, ecological areas and other public spaces. They also contribute to the planning and design of roads, cycle ways, walkways and other infrastructure facilities. In addition you will play a significant part in inspecting and approving new private subdivision landscape proposals, and providing landscape related advice to subdivision developers.Responsibilities include;You will have responsibility for city-wide projects where your knowledge will be implicit in solving problems and generating ideas, from conceptual design through to implementation.Giving advice on landscape assessment matters to influence Council projects, as well as assisting the Council resource consent planners.Receiving, inspecting and approving subdivision landscape and street tree plans. This includes coordinating across Council with different asset groups, and providing landscape related advice to subdivision developers and their agents.Contributing to a team environment that encourages participation, initiative, innovation, flexibility, trust, responsibility, and accountability which is consistent with the Council's values.Maintaining strong and effective partnerships with external consultants, private developers, Government agencies and organisations to enable effective subdivision approval process as well as the delivery of the Council's capital programme.Assisting to mentor junior landscape architects, passing on your expertise and helping others to learn and grow.What do you need to be successful?Experience as a Landscape Architect on complex landscape related projects and landscape planning matters.Good people skills to enable successful collaboration across a variety of professional disciplines, and to work together with private developers, the public and key stakeholders.A broad landscape architecture knowledge, and experience and understanding of subdivision landscape design, including experience and knowledge of tree and plant species, and good horticultural practice.Good organisational and administrative skills.Excitement about the prospect of working on a great landscape outcome that will have a positive impact on the environment and the people of Otautahi, ChristchurchAn ability and desire to mentor and coach others.Excitement about the prospect of working on projects that have positive impact on the environment and the people of Otautahi, Christchurch.What's in it for you:Working for the Christchurch City Council allows you to contribute directly to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents and visitors.
