Contribute positively to caring for Northland's beautiful environment
A few things you should know about Northland Regional Council - we aren't about parking tickets, roading, building consents or any of that stuff!
Our work is ultimately about working together to care for our region's incredible environment and many communities, matching our skills and resources with the vision and aspirations of our people.
Toitu te whenua, toitu to moana, toitu te tangata. If the land is well, if the sea is well, the people will thrive.
The opportunity
There is increased awareness about the need for sustainable land management and improved freshwater quality across the country and Northland is no exception. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our growing land management team.
We are seeking applications for a Land Management Advisor, based in Whangarei. This role will focus on preparing Farm Environment Plans to promote and implement water quality improvement, soil conservation, catchment management and afforestation programmes. Key functions include working closely with land owners and other key stakeholders to promote sustainable land use practices throughout the region.
Are you up for it?
This role would suit someone who can work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team; someone who looks for new and improved ways of doing things and has a passion for caring for the environment.

We are particularly looking for someone with proven abilities in forestry and sustainable land management with experience in soil conservation, sustainable farm practices, biodiversity, riparian management and/or catchment management.
You will need to have the ability to build relationships, motivate and persuade others in a professional and positive manner, and work within a large and diverse team.
