The Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney currently has a vacancy for an experienced Laboratory Services Manager to lead the technical team and coordinate technical resources to support the teaching and research activities of the Sport and Exercise Science discipline group.
Located on our campus at Moore Park, you will be accountable for the strategic support and advice, stakeholder management, critical problem solving and supervision of the overall operation of the Sport & Exercise Science laboratories. Responsibilities include environment, health and safety, risk mitigation and other regulatory compliance, provision of laboratory supplies, procurement, staff rostering and workflow allocation, assurance and compliance of laboratory standards and equipment development, maintenance and repair, to ensure that the teaching and research needs of the discipline group are met.

Main duties/responsibilities:
Providing high level support to the Discipline Lead, Director of Studies and other staff, relating to the management of the teaching and research laboratories and related policies and procedures.
In conjunction with academic staff, ensure that appropriate laboratory quality assurance standards are maintained.
Driving continuous improvement through the review, audit and design of newly established and existing policies and processes.
Coordinate the management of a 'fee for service' sport science testing and consulting service.
Managing a Technical Services team including allocating staff workloads and workflows to meet discipline group deadlines.
Build an effective team ensuring staff have the capability to provide the required support to the discipline.

Main skills/experience required:
Demonstrated management and people skills with high level of initiative.
Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate human and physical resources in the provision of technical support for teaching and research.
Ability to train staff and students in laboratory techniques or in the use of laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of general laboratory techniques and Safety and Wellbeing principles with an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards, particularly with members of the public, staff and students.
Experience in working in laboratories in an educational setting.
Successful experience in managing and leading staff to promote a cohesive and effective team in a customer focussed environment.
Remuneration
Salary Range: $99,324 to $113,119 pa (HEW 8)
The university offers 17% employer provided superannuation and salary packaging opportunities.
