Laboratory Analyst

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Asbestos Laboratory Analyst to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental testing, specifically in asbestos analysis, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
However, we are ready to train a suitable candidate who has relevant experience and an educational background in science.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct asbestos analysis using microscopy techniques in accordance with industry standards.
Perform fibre counting and identification of asbestos in various sample types (bulks, swabs, soils).
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Adhere to all safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.
Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality outputs.
Handle data entry and administrative tasks.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience in asbestos analysis and fibre counting preferred.
Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 standards and WorkSafe NZ Regulations.
Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
