Pukepine Sawmill is currently seeking an experienced Kiln/Boiler Operator and Forklift driver to join our timber processing operations. We currently run nine kilns producing timber for the domestic and export markets.
Pukepine Sawmill is a family owned business and a leading NZ manufacturer of quality solid and finger jointed timber products. Our operation comprises of green and dry mills, several kilns for drying, and a timber treatment plant. Part of the operation is Purepine Mouldings, our secondary processing plant that produces interior and exterior finished timber products for the domestic and export markets.
This is a full time, permanent position. Shifts available:
Nights: Friday- Sunday 4pm to 4am
The ideal candidate will:
Have a forklift license and be highly competent on a forklift in an industrial/manufacturing site
Have at least 3 years experience
Be Health and Safety conscious
Be able to accurately read and follow instructions
Have a reasonable level of computer literacy
Have a reasonable level of numeracy and literacy
Must be reliable, honest, and display good work ethic
Must have initiative
Must be highly motivated and flexible
Responsibilities
Source and preload packets allocated to kiln charges as per the process planners instructions
Load and unload kiln charges
Monitor and manage the furnace and/or gasifier to ensure optimum energy output and safe operating temperatures are maintained
Follow the correct kiln schedule for the product being dried
Check moisture contents of dried product is within target tolerances
Record and communicate any maintenance requirements to the supervisor
Applicants should have a valid, full NZ driver licence, and at least two contactable referees.
