Te Puni Kokiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Maori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for and with Maori. This includes our mandate to promote Maori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.

Te Puni Kaupapa | Policy is looking for their next Kaitatari Kaupapa Here | Policy Analyst to join the collaborative Te Pae Tawhiti tima. We are open receiving applications from a broad range of kaitono including those who.

Te whai wahitanga | The opportunity

Based in Poneke, Wellington, our Policy Puni leads across the public sector to understand and prioritise issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Maori development and wellbeing. The Puni consists of 8 teams focusing on specific Policy areas.

Te Pae Tawhiti leads the government's work with Maori here and abroad to enable matauranga Maori and taonga to flourish in accordance with tikanga Maori.

Reporting to the Policy Manager, and as part of a team of policy professionals you will

* Provide credible, evidence-based advice anchored in the context of iwi, hapu, whanau and Maori as it applies to cultural and intellectual property.
* Conduct analysis of policy issues to understand the implications and identify potential solutions.
* Work collaboratively with peers at Te Puni Kokiri and with organisations including Manatu Aorere (MFAT) & Hikina Whakatutuki (MBIE) amongst others.
* Contribute to robust team discussion, presenting your ideas and sharing knowledge.

The likely appointment range is $76,022 to $84,468 per annum based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is $76,022 to $101,062 with a mid-point of $84,468

Mou | About you

We are looking for candidates who have a love of korero and wananga and who want to build a career in policy and who have:

* Some knowledge of government processes and the environment we work in.
* A curious, inquisitive mind. Includes a commitment to learning, asking questions and enjoying research and analysis.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Are comfortable in an ao Maori environment and are comfortable in situations where tikanga is observed. Some knowledge of te reo Maori, or as a minimum have a willingness to learn is ideal.
* Confidence to engage and korero with others and to work in a whanaungatanga/relationship driven way.
