Birdhurst Group is a family owned and operated apple and kiwifruit business and along with its postharvest entity Golden Bay Fruit grows, packs and sells fruit around the world. With marketing staff based offshore, this Motueka company continues to expand and operates a state of the art packing facility using the world’s leading technology.
The company’s irrigation network and water supply are critical elements in achieving targets in annual fruit production and young tree growth rates.
This new role has been established to support the manager overseeing water management and supply to the company’s orchard operations. Key responsibilities will include the installation of new irrigation systems along with the maintenance and repairs to existing networks. The successful applicant must have a strong attention to detail who is an effective trouble shooter in identifying water loss risks and taking corrective action to ensure all irrigation systems are operating efficiently.
Previous experience in orchard or similar production irrigation systems is essential, especially where responsibilities have involved frost protection, summer watering or the like. The successful applicant will be practically and mechanically minded and a proven safe operator of heavy roller wheels equipment, diggers and tractors. Applicants must be a team player with the flexibility to undertake other orchard duties when required.
