This is a full time permanent (civ) position
This Graduate role will get you out of the office and around the countryside and not glued to your desk. You’ll visit the camps and bases to where the serving men and women are and combat assets such as ships, aircraft and armoured vehicles, to see what the Defence Force is really like. You will gain on the job experience, in-house and formal training and the pathways to achieve your Certified Internal Auditor, Chartered Accountancy or other relevant professional qualification you need to get ahead.
What you will do
You will be part of the Internal Audit team and engaged from the outset on real, meaningful work with a purpose. You will be given the space to learn and gain the professional qualifications you need and receive dedicated mentoring support.
Within this role you will:
Provide support in the planning, conduct and delivery of high-quality engagements under the risk-based annual internal audit work plan;
Provide support in validating and monitoring management corrective action plans;
Contribute support to the development and delivery of best practice internal audit methodology, tools and techniques;
Assist the Internal Audit team in the execution of its Work Plan.
As a result of being a part of the Internal Audit Graduate Programme you will gain:
A working knowledge of the NZ public sector and legislation regulations, policies and standards;
A working knowledge of the Internal Audit International Professional Practices Framework;
An understanding of the NZDF organisation, its business, roles, structures, command chains and the environment in which it operates;
The opportunity to apply for available roles within the NZDF on programme completion.
What you will bring
A tertiary education with a qualification in (but not restricted to); Commerce, Accounting, Business Finance, Information Technology or Law and have:
A natural curiosity to learn and understand how things work and a flair for problem solving;
Desire to begin or already working towards your Certified Internal Auditor or Chartered Accountancy qualification or other, relevant professional qualification;
Good research, analytical and problem solving skills;
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications;
Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills; and
A desire to collaborate and engage with a broad range of individuals.
